Riches and Wealth

A lot have been said about wealth and riches. Different school of thoughts have given different interpretations of what wealth is. Some believe it is evil, while others take the stand that without it, life is worthless. Religious scholars are not left out of this. Some focus their teachings more on the subject of wealth and riches while others argue that for an individual to make heaven, he/she must live in total austerity. However, the question is what really is wealth? Is it evil or good? If it is evil why? And if it is good why? Who should be wealthy? Is man’s riches and wealth in the hands of God?

Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you. James 5:1-6
