Divine Mercy

Because of the love God has for us humans, God possesses the attribute to grant divine mercy to devoted followers. As a result, God shows compassion and forgiveness towards humans while being  within His power to punish.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Matthew 9:13
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. Micah 7:18

The Qur’an preaches that divine mercy rests with Allah. Just as it was stated in the introductory chapter of the Qur’an;
“Praise be to God, the Lord of the Worlds; the most merciful, the dispenser of mercy.” [Qur’an 1:2-3]
The Qur’an also says;
“Say: ‘Limitless is your Lord in His mercy…’” [Qur’an 6:147]
